About Me

Hello, I am Cathy.

In the picture to the left, you can see me with my little red cat, Felix and my iBook. Felix rules in our house.

I am a Librarian and am currently working for the State Library of WA.

I’ve been married to Joel for 4 years and we have no children (I’m kind of petrified of completely mucking up their lives and Joel doesn’t want any – we’re a good match in that regard). He’s a research fellow at one of our local universities.

I’ve been stitching for most of my life, I started stitching in my teens, a dear friend taught me how. I lost touch with my friend, but I will always remember her for the gift she gave me when she showed me how. During my teens and early twenties, my Mum was my greatest enabler and stash fiend, she’d take me to our LNS on my day off and we’d also go to all the craft events in Western Australia together. Sadly my mother died in 2000 and for several years I had no stitching buddies to encourage me to keep stitching. I stitched a memorial sampler and then put down my needle for several years.

In 2004, Joel and I married and I started to look for stitching groups on the net (with my brand new iBook!) I will always be grateful to the lovely friends who encouraged my participation online (I hope you all know who you are).

At the end of 2006, I met up with some WA stitchers who I had met online and in 2007 we took a trip to Sydney to meet some more Aussie Uber Stitchers. We had a fabulous time and we are planning another trip next year, I can’t wait!
